Liquid Nitrogen

To have access to the collect liquid nitrogen, you must be inducted. At the time of writing, James Horne in conducts this induction, and following this you will be provided swipe card access to decanting facility.

Collection procedure

In no way is the summary a substitute for an induction and appropriate training, but it can serve as a useful reminder to that main collection procedure, where one must:

  1. Verify the oxygen level in the room, and if safe, proceed
  2. Chock open the door to prevent the build up of nitrogen
  3. Start the extraction system to remove nitrogen and ensure an adequate flow of oxygen
  4. Suit up in PPE to avoid burns
  5. Collect the liquid nitrogen
  6. Once the vessel is full and safe to transport, deactivate the extraction system, remove the chock, and close the door
